I’ve been a naturalist my entire life and often turn to elderberries when I want to boost my immune system—either as a preventative measure or when I’m feeling unwell.

Later in my adult life, while studying herbal medicine, I looked forward to learning how to make elderberry syrup. Part of the excitement was that elderberry syrup is often quite pricey, and I wanted to source my honey myself (I don’t trust most honeys on the market).

When I learned to make the syrup, I realized—before even adding the honey—that the tea itself was incredible on its own. Most of the time, I make a big pot of elderberry herb tea and drink it over a few days when I feel like something is coming on and need extra immune support.

I hope you enjoy this recipe! All of these herbs should be available in bulk at your local health food store or can be ordered online. Be sure to use organic ingredients whenever possible!
